What equipment is required for work:

T o work with faulty storage media devices, we use the products of leading manufacturers in the field of information recovery from Acelab and Soft Center. In what environment do you need to work:

Work inside the hard drive’s hermozone should be carried out in fairly clean conditions, due to the rapid degradation of the reading capabilities of magnetic heads in a contaminated environment (Yes, it’s the dust that you could ever see on your monitor or furniture. The smallest particles of dust in the air will not cause us any inconvenience, but for your hard drive it can create problems like Godzilla for Tokyo). And so Godzilla is a dangerous obstacle to magnetic heads, so we need to minimize its presence. That is, we need to approach laboratory conditions, as is done at the factory. For this we need a Laminar box with a downward flow of air and a Hepa filtration system according to ISO 14644-1. The presence of a laminar box does not guarantee you absolutely clean air inside it, because the use of a clean box outside a clean room, as it done at the manufacturer’s factory, leads to rapid wear of the filtration system. And also to its contamination by a specialist working with the drive. But this option is better than the absence of any means of protection at all.

What tools are used when working:

In addition to a microscope with a good approximation and a soldering station, when working with faulty information storage devices, you often have to manipulate rather fragile parts of the storage device, such as a block of magnetic heads or plates of a hard magnetic disk. For these purposes, special head replacement (swap) tools are designed. They are produced by a number of manufacturers Salvation data (China), HDRC (India), HDDSurgery (Serbia) and ER-Tools (Russia).
